Vo Trong Nghia

Bornin 1976 in central Vietnam's Quang Binh Province, getting the Japanesegovernment scholarship, he went to Nagoya Polytechnic University to studyarchitecture in 1996. After graduation, he entered University of Tokyo withProfessor Naito Hiro. In school, Vo Trong NghiaPut major energy on natural resources building direction.

After 10 years of studying in Japan, Vo Trong Nghia decidedto return to Vietnam, trying to reverse the rapid city of Vietnam. Be affirmedfrom not rating, Vo Trong Nghia.just use one piece of work.

The Wind and Water Café is Vo Trong Nghia’s first green building, locatedin the lush tropical forests, by bamboo and steel tension members, forming themost up to 12 meters wide open column free space. The Pingyang area is prone toflood, and the bamboo system ensures that the building is easily disassembledand rebuilt.

Theintegration of bamboo roofs and trees is an open landscape. Surrounded byartificial lakes, a natural and harmonious atmosphere can pull people away fromthe busy working atmosphere.

House for Trees

The house for trees belongs to a private house, composed of 5"boxes" of concrete, which is in sharp contrast to the denselypopulated dwellings.

Inonly $156 thousand budget conditions, Vo TrongNghia and his team minimize the cost of materials, all buildingmaterials are natural materials. External wall with reinforced concrete andbamboo framework, the internal structure of the use of local red rectangular masonry.

5separate buildings of concrete structures bear the function of largeflowerpots. The top of every building is covered with thick soil, which cangrow trees. Natural rainwater is used for irrigation. It not only saves waterresources, but also reduces the possibility of urban flood.

Fromthe point of view, 5 independent houses are naturally surrounded by a centralcourtyard, and the trees on the top of the building naturally form a smallgarden. Large glass doors and windows ensure that the house has sufficientlight and ventilation, as well as safety and privacy.

Vo Trong Nghia hopes to convey the green space to the city residents'concept, which can make high density residential and tropical trees coexist.

Thefarming kindergarten is located near a large shoemaking factory in Dong NaiProvince, Vietnam, which is built mainly for the children of the shoe factoryworkers. It covers an area of 10 thousand and 600 square meters and canaccommodate up to 500 preschool children.

Themost obvious feature of kindergartens is its interesting plane form. Similar toour Chinese knot, it is generally coiled with three Chinese courtyards. It hasunique spatial identification and provides a safe playground for children.

The two ends of the building slant to theground and gradually rise to the height of the two storey, forming a spiralstructure with a different level and gradient. Under the roof is the indooractivity space of the kindergarten. From the two sides of the building touchingthe ground, the children can conveniently enter the roof, move freely, andestablish intimate relationship with nature.

Acoherent green roof is the "farm" of the kindergarten. Despite thetight budget, but Vo Trong Nghia hope thisbuilding can be expected sustainable school sample, here, children can learnhow to grow food.

Sen Village Community Center

Sen Village islocated 20 kilometers away from the city of Hu Zhiming, Vietnam, a newresidential area with 2200 houses. Here, VoTrong Nghia Design a bamboo and straw as the main material of the dometype community center.

Thebuilding has a simple umbrella structure built with 28 pure bamboo frame units, which can hold up to 250 people at most. Local residents can hold every kind ofactivity in the large round hall, such as meetings, banquets, exhibitions andmusical performances.

The roof center has a circular hole in which hotair can be discharged from the roof, and the cooling wind is cooled by theswimming pool, so that the air is circulated in the building. These methodshelp to reduce building energy consumption, even in tropical climate withoutthe need of air conditioner.

Recently,Vo Trong Nghi's new work-Ting Xi Bamboo Restaurant will be completed in Xiamen.

Theproject is located in Xiamen downtown near the forest area, Wu Jung hee.Architectural firm chose their favorite materials - bamboo, create a flexible, can hold all kinds of activities of the indoor space.

Thebamboo Pavilion is made up of 14 bamboo columns that are 8 meters apart, supporting a 14 meter wide roof. For this unique shape, the architect has hisown ideas.

"Themaximum height of this human shaped roof is 6.4 meters, allowing natural lightto penetrate into the room and provide a pleasant atmosphere for this dynamicspace. The slightly curved interior design allows people to experience alayered framework and further improves the user's perception of space depth."

Unlikethe open bamboo building space of Vo Trong Nghia, this project is to installair conditioning system. The architect provided the solution: an arched glassplate fitted with a bamboo arc between the pillars and the walls to fully sealthe building.
